HIV/AIDS

HIV is the acronym for the Human Immunodeficiency Virus. HIV is a retrovirus that can cause the breakdown of the body's immune system. The immune system is the body's natural defense against disease. Contracting the HIV virus leads in many cases to the development of the disease known as AIDS or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.
